Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.

Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Over the last 4 years (through 2023) I’ve earned $842,000 from my laptop.

I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best Amazon FBA courses. My team and I have spent 120+ hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.

All that to say: we know a thing or two about Amazon FBA and making money online.

The Best Amazon FBA Course?

We’re on a mission to find the best Amazon FBA course, based on our own extensive research plus feedback from real students.

Just One Dime seems like a solid course but it doesn’t quite make the top of our list…

How does Just One Dime help you make money?

Just One Dime’s Amazon FBA Mastery is an online course that aims to teach you how to build an ecommerce business with Amazon FBA.

There are multiple strategies you can use for selling on Amazon, and Seth Kniep’s course appears to teach you specifically about private labeling. This is when you create your own brand to sell on Amazon.

Seth gives a nice overview of private labeling in this video…

Just One Dime also offers a few other training products:

  • Amazon Arbitrage Mastery
A course about buying discounted products locally and reselling them on Amazon.
  • Build An Amazon Brand
An “over the shoulder” series following Seth’s team as they build a new Amazon business from scratch.
  • Done For You
A service where Seth’s team will “launch, manage, and grow your Amazon brand into monthly cash flow.”

But again, in this particular review, I’m just focusing on Just One Dime’s Amazon FBA Mastery course.

Who is Amazon FBA Mastery for?

JOD’s Amazon FBA Mastery aims to be a comprehensive course, teaching everything you need to know about creating and selling physical products on Amazon.

From the course sales page:

We left nothing out in the training. You receive unending, full on support with all the resources and tools you need to become a massive seller on Amazon. All you need is teachability and consistency.

However, from my research it seems that building a successful Amazon FBA business – even with the help of Just One Dime – is a tough task. Personally I would not recommend it if you’re new to working online.

Does Just One Dime have a good reputation?

For the most part, yes.

During my research of Seth Kniep and his Amazon FBA Mastery course, I found far more praise than criticism.

Seth certainly seems to have achieved massive success on Amazon himself, and he’s built up a popular and well-respected YouTube channel (240k+ subscribers).

The one thing that gives me pause with Seth is his claim to consistently generate 40-60% profit margins on Amazon, both for himself and his students. This is plausible but unlikely, as 70% of Amazon sellers report profit margins of 25% or less (source).

Are JustOneDime students getting results?

Browse through the Just One Dime website and you’ll find lots of student testimonials. They actually seem to have more success stories than most other FBA courses I’ve reviewed.

However, as with every other FBA course, pretty much every success story that can be dated comes from a student who started their business in 2017 or earlier.

My impression is that selling on Amazon has become far more competitive in recent years, and as such it seems harder for newcomers to break through and build a successful business, even with the help of Just One Dime.

Also, it’s worth noting that most Amazon sellers earn less than 20% in profit (source). Take that into consideration when you see sellers reporting their revenue numbers.

How much does Amazon FBA Mastery cost?

There are three pricing options for Amazon FBA Mastery:

  • $997 – Amazon FBA Mastery Tier 1
Basic course with no bonuses or coaching calls.
  • $1997 – Amazon FBA Mastery Tier 2
Includes a 1-on-1 coaching call, weekly live workshops, plus several other bonuses.
  • $3997 – Amazon FBA Mastery Tier 3
Everything from the previous tier plus four more 1-on-1 coaching calls and “3 researched product ideas sent to you only”

With either option you would get lifetime access to the training.

I’ve also seen multiple mentions of a monthly payment option for Just One Dime, but it’s unclear how to avail of this, or how it breaks down for each tier.

(Jump to discount info below)

Keep in mind that you’ll also need some money to buy inventory or create your product before you can start selling, and more money for advertising your product once it’s live on Amazon.

I’ve seen no mention of these additional expenses on the Just One Dime sales page, but according to my research you should expect to spend at least $5000 to launch and market your product.

Just One Dime Coupon?

There is a place to enter a “coupon code” on the Amazon FBA Mastery checkout, but I haven’t been able to find any legit discount for the course.

I did find a tweet from @justonedime offering a discount on the course for Black Friday, so it might be worth keeping an eye on that account for future discounts.

Refund Policy

As stated on their sales page, Just One Dime has a 14-day refund policy for Amazon FBA Mastery:

We have a 14-day money back policy. No questions asked.

Except for one question: Tell us how we can improve 🙂

However, according to their Terms of Service page, they require a bit more than that:

a refund will be provided ONLY if you provide a written explanation about why you are requesting a refund.

It also says there that they do not give refunds on subscription packages, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking to sign up for JOD with a monthly payment plan.

How is the training structured?

As per the sales page for Amazon FBA Mastery, there are 5 core modules in the training (JOD refers to them as 5 separate courses):

  • Establish Your Business and Brand
  • Master the Market
  • Manufacture Your Product
  • Launch Your Brand
  • Expand Your Reach

Apparently that core training consists of 200+ video tutorials.

As mentioned above, there are three tiers to the training and the higher tiers come with several bonuses, live weekly workshops and 1-on-1 coaching calls.

You can see exactly what’s included in each tier on the JOD site before you buy.

This video by Dan Rodgers also gives you a good look inside the training…

Green Lights 🟢

Based on my research and submitted student reviews, here are some things to like about Just One Dime’s Amazon FBA Mastery:

  • Lots of student testimonials and success stories.
  • Many reports of excellent customer support.
  • Active and helpful private community.
  • The training is practical, comprehensive, and step-by-step.
  • Free updates for existing students when course is updated.
  • Seth Kniep seems like the real deal.

Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Amazon FBA Mastery that might give you pause:

  • Application and consultation call required before they tell you the price.
  • Somewhat expensive compared to other Amazon FBA courses.
  • Hard to find significant success stories from students who started after 2017.
  • Reports of upsells within the training.
  • To give yourself a decent chance of success with Amazon FBA, a large investment ($5,000+) is required beyond the price of the course. There is no mention of this on the JOD sales page for Amazon FBA Mastery.

Other things you should know

  • Per my research on Amazon FBA, after buying a course like Amazon FBA Mastery you should have at least an additional $5000 on hand to kickstart your Amazon business.
  • You’ll find lots of downloads and other resources within the course, including spreadsheets, PDFs, slides, templates, etc.

Should you join Just One Dime?

If you already have some experience and success with Amazon FBA and you’re looking to take your business to the next level, Just One Dime’s Amazon FBA Mastery could be a worthwhile investment for you.

You’ll likely find some good tips, processes and mentors within the training that will help boost your business.

Also, if you’ve gotten a lot out of Seth Kniep’s free content on YouTube and would like to learn more from him, his paid courses are likely a worthwhile investment.

That said, if you are brand new to Amazon FBA, I’d recommend starting with some lower-priced courses (see below) to test the waters and see if it’s a good fit for you.

It's okay

It has good information, but definitely not worth $4000. I would say it may be worth less than $1000. You are much better off putting $4000 to try and sell your first product. Then through trial and error, you can put your money to good use.

Pros and Cons

  • Weekly Q&A podcasts.
  • Good information.
  • Community is ok.
  • Too expensive.

It's hard to get on Amazon FBA if you are a new seller

My experience with the JOD Amazon FBA Mastery course helped me realize that it’s a business model that sounds good but once you start this journey, many things can go wrong because your business partner is Amazon. Amazon works great for customers but for sellers, it is another story.

If I knew all the problems that I could face, most probably I wouldn’t sign up for the course. Seth Kniep is obviously trying to sell his course, but he is not very transparent from the beginning with the issues a new seller might face (hijackers, missing stock, your listing might get blocked by Amazon for no apparent reason, deal with another warehouse for returns if you live outside of the US, etc.)

The course works best for people who are already on Amazon and are established sellers on the platform. New sellers following the course very rarely become consistently profitable.

It took me over 6 months to find a product and develop it. By the time my partner and I developed it, it was very competitive on the market but we had already paid the warehouse in China over $7000. We had a budget of about $15000 and had some money left for the advertisement on Amazon. Pay Per Click ads can be very expensive depending on the product and for us, it was simply not enough to cover the cost of ads and the cost of the warehouse.

We contacted one of the coaches who was a “master” on listings to take a look at our listing and things that we could probably improve. The cost of that meeting was $400 and we didn’t really get anything from it, because our listing was optimized already and it followed the course perfectly. The problem was that we went into a competitive niche.

One aspect that felt very misleading was that if you build and offer a much better product than your competition, you wouldn’t have any issues selling well. That’s actually not the case, as we tested the products of our top competitors and we improved on most aspects that required improvement, such as making the product more comfortable for the user.

The problem is, if you don’t have the capital to sustain your listing through advertising for enough time to get customers to review and recommend your product, you have a hard chance at succeeding, even with a much better-quality product.

The help someone can get through the coaches really depends on the experience that the coach has, but it’s there when you need it and if you need it. Unfortunately, there’s not much they can do for you if you’ve launched in a niche that’s now highly competitive and hard to disrupt.

(Additionally, we also took the Amazon Arbitrage Mastery course from Just One Dime. That’s a course that can work for someone living in the US. It’s a course where you buy items at discount and you relist them on Amazon. The course doesn’t get updated regularly, as there are no regular changes on Amazon for that type of business model. Even though the content doesn’t get regularly updated, the videos and techniques are solid. The capital needed for that business model depends on you and your budget and where you live. If you live outside of the US you’ll need to work closely with a fulfillment center, as your items will need to get prepped and shipped to Amazon warehouses.)

Before you start an FBA business or any business for that matter, it’s best to have at least a basic understanding of personal and business finances. That’s one area that is not covered in the course, which feels like such an essential part because most people are financially illiterate. If you cannot allocate capital effectively, your chances of burning through your funds very quickly are very high.

Ultimately, paying for a course doesn’t give you that much of an edge, given that there’s a ton of free and good quality information available out there. You’re better off starting with free content, learn from other people’s experiences so that you can make an informed decision.

If you’re desperate to get out of a job and think that this is your ticket out, yes, it’s possible. Some people have done it. But there’s probably one success story for every 1,000 failed ones, if not more.

Pros and Cons

  • The community.
  • The content that was regularly updated.
  • Dan Rogers was providing exceptional and regular content.
  • The upselling aspect of the course.
  • Most of the content was already available for free on YouTube.

Great ROI

I started to work with Seth directly years ago when he only had 150 members in his Facebook group. At the time I was working, but I knew the potential of FBA.

My first year doing it by myself I sold 60 units. The month that I started working with Seth and JustOneDime, I sold 600 units and then 1000 and then consistently 2000 and more.

The system works, you just have to plug in and work it. Seth’s passion and love for people is amazing.

Pros and Cons

  • It gave me a path to follow.
  • It took the guesswork out.
  • It’s doable.
