About the Author

Niall Doherty

Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.

Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Over the last 4 years (through 2023) I’ve earned $842,000 from my laptop.

I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best online business courses. My team and I are spending many hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.

All that to say: we know a thing or two about such courses and making money online.

The Best Affiliate Marketing Course?

We’re on a mission to find the best affiliate marketing course, based on our own extensive research plus feedback from real students.

While Niche Site Profits is NOT primarily an affiliate marketing course – it’s far more focused on monetizing websites with display ads – it does cover a lot of the same ground.

With that in mind, while Jon’s course bundle is very good, it doesn’t beat out some similar courses…

🏆 Best Affiliate Marketing Courses 🏆

How does Niche Site Profits help you make money?

While one of the courses within the NSP is about affiliate marketing, the entire training is mainly focused on monetizing a niche website (or blog) with display ads.

Jon Dykstra is well known for consistently earning $50,000+ per month from display ads on his own websites, and sometimes over $100,000 per month.

Here is one of Jon’s smaller sites with the display ads highlighted in red…

How much money you make from display ads depends on a few factors, but generally the more people you can get to visit your site, the more you can earn.

As Jon says within the training:

Different sites earn different amounts of money per 1,000 visitors. It ranges from $1 to $30 per 1,000 visitors. $30 is quite high and few sites achieve that. $5 and under is fairly low. $10 to $15 is not uncommon.

Using that $10 to $15 range, if you have 5000 people per day visiting your website, you could expect to earn around $1500 to $2250 per month.

Jon also reports earning about $10,000 per month in affiliate commissions from his niche sites, so he’s no stranger to that monetization method.

One of the courses within Niche Site Profits is called Lazy Affiliate Method, where he shares his tips for affiliate marketing.

Here’s a video from Jon comparing and contrasting the two monetization methods…

Who is Niche Site Profits for?

Niche Site Profits seems to be aimed both at beginners and experienced online marketers.

As stated on the sales page

“Niche Site Profits” is beginner friendly, so you do not need to have made a previous site or know what WordPress is. It’s not rocket science & I cover everything. For those who are short on time, you can get your Niche site running on a part time basis. This is where all of us started before going full time.

However, do keep in mind that this is far from being the fastest way to make money.

Jon further elaborates…

My system is SIMPLE but it will NOT happen overnight… and you WILL have to do some actual work. There isn’t a magic “make money” button and have money shoot out of your computer screen – sorry to burst your bubble.

The Fatstacks method is about building a sustainable asset, and that takes some time and effort. The good news is, my training takes what is a steep learning curve and makes it as simple as possible.

The whole idea is to start a new website and then pump out quality content on that site regularly. Over time, search engines like Google should start ranking your site highly for your target keywords, which leads to more people visiting your website.

It’s a tried and trusted process, but it does take significant time and effort.

I really like that Jon sets these expectations up front.

If you’re not a fan of writing content yourself, Jon also has a course in the Bundle called Content Site Autopilot, which covers how to outsource content creation and more.

Based on my own deep experience with building and monetizing a blog, and having seen inside the Fat Stacks Bundle and researching it extensively, I consider it to be one of the better blogging courses available.

However, I wouldn’t recommend that you jump into building your own blog if you’re new to working online.

Does Jon Dykstra have a good reputation?

Yes, one of the best.

First off, I consider Jon Dykstra to be one of the most honest and helpful bloggers out there.

You’ll find lots of great info freely available on his Fat Stacks Blog and YouTube channel, including his monthly income reports which prove him to be the real deal.

Second, Jon has been featured on pretty much every respected blogging/SEO channel, including…

fat stacks review blogging or seo channels

They all point to Jon as one of the best out there when it comes to growing a content site and monetizing it with display ads.

You can get a feel for Jon in this interview he did with Authority Hacker…

Third, Jon doesn’t engage in any shady marketing tactics to sell his courses, and is very upfront about how much time and effort is required to emulate his success.

Are Fat Stacks Bundle / Niche Site Profits students getting results?

I found a fair amount of Niche Site Profits students reporting impressive results.

For example…

fat stacks review niche site profits student results
fat stacks review niche site profits student testimonials
fat stacks review niche site profits student reviews

Out of all the courses I’ve reviewed to date, Niche Site Profits has some of the most legitimate and numerous success stories. Most of them mention specific results achieved from having followed the training, rather than just empty platitudes.

My strong feeling is that the training proves effective for most people who follow it consistently.

So yeah, Jon’s students are definitely getting results.

But as noted, it does take quite a bit of time and effort to implement Jon’s methods and generate a good return on investment. (This is true of every blogging course, btw.)

How much does Niche Site Profits cost?

There are two parts to the Niche Site Profits pricing…

  • $497 for the first year
  • $47 for every subsequent year to retain access

With that you get access to all the course modules plus the private Fat Stacks community (3000+ members).

Btw, it looks like you have to sign up for Jon’s mailing list before you can buy the course.

Sign up for his free course here, and you’ll be given the option to buy the course.

This offer is only valid for 5 days though, and it looks like Jon has some savvy tech setup that recognizes if you’ve received the offer before.

So if you want in, best jump on it within those 5 days.

There are a few additional costs to be aware of after signing up for Niche Site Profits…

  • Website domain + hosting – $100/year approx
Jon recommends Bluehost for this. Price may vary, but sometimes you can get up to 3 years of hosting from them for about $100.
  • Ahrefs subscription – $97/month
This is the software Jon recommends for keyword research. It’s not strictly necessary, as he shows a few ways to do keyword research with free/cheap alternatives, but I’d recommend budgeting for at least 1 month of Ahrefs to get the most out of the Bundle.
  • Trellis – $149/year or $15/month
This is the WordPress theme that Jon recommends. Again, not strictly necessary – you can use a free WP theme instead – but best to use this so you can follow the training more closely.

Altogether, to sign up for and follow the training properly, I’d recommend you have a budget of about $850.

Niche Site Profits / Fat Stacks Bundle Discount?

Despite a diligent search, I’ve been unable to find a discount or coupon code.

However, there is a place to enter a discount code at checkout.

Refund Policy

The sales page for Niche Site Profits specifies a 30-day money-back guarantee…

You get everything you need to create simple, fun niche sites that earn big. You have 30 days from the time of purchase to review every module in my training. If you decide that this isn’t worth at least 5x your investment, or if you do not feel satisfied, send me an email and I’ll send you a prompt and courteous refund, no questions asked.

I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.

How is Niche Site Profits structured?

After signing up for the Bundle you’ll land on a screen showing you all the courses you have access to…

fat stacks review niche site profits courses

Here’s what it looks like once you open one of the lessons…

fat stacks review niche site profits lessons

The core training is broken up into 5 main modules:

  • Introduction
  • Profitable Niches
  • Easy Win Keywords
  • Display Ads Maximizer
  • Extra Niche Site Models

Then there are a bunch of bonus modules, such as…

  • 60 Minute Niche Sites
  • Lazy Affiliate Method
  • SEO Zero to Hero
  • Natural Backlinks Formula
  • Site Speed Secrets
  • 7 Figure Flipping
  • Facebook Traffic Magnet

Each module has a combination of text and video lessons.

Given how all the modules are essentially mini-courses, the training used to be quite hard to navigate. The rebranding (from the Fat Stacks Bundle) slightly alleviated this, but I still wouldn’t say this is the tidiest training around.

Fortunately, there are so many good course materials here that I’d hardly call this a dealbreaker. Not to mention the amount of bonuses provided within the training.

Another slight issue is that NSP is somewhat lacking in terms of active link building. Jon is a proud ambassador of “natural” or “passive” link building, and it seems many students actually prefer that approach. However, if you’re looking to be more proactive about link building, you won’t find much guidance on that within the course.

Perhaps more importantly, given how crucial content creation is to Jon’s approach, I expected to see far more in-depth training on that topic within the training.

Lastly, you also get access to the private Niche Site Profits community when you buy the course. It is 3000+ members strong and quite active. You’ll usually see posts in 10+ different threads each day.

Green Lights 🟢

Several things to like about Niche Site Profits…

  • Lots of student testimonials and success stories.
  • Tried and trusted business model.
  • Active and helpful private community.
  • 30-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee.
  • No shady marketing tactics.
  • Realistic timeline.
  • Covers multiple traffic generation methods (eg. SEO, Facebook, Pinterest).
  • Jon Dykstra walks his talk.
  • Strong emphasis on creating quality content.

Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Niche Site Profits that might give you pause:

  • Little instruction on content creation, despite that being crucial to the process.
  • Training sometimes feels disjointed and hard to navigate.
  • No mention on sales page of expenses beyond the price of the training (eg. Ahrefs, hosting).

Other things you should know

  • Jon’s training walks you through everything he’s done to build his successful niche websites. With the purchase of the course, you unlock these unique materials.
  • Jon does have a section on link building within the Bundle, but it’s about creating content that attracts links naturally. He doesn’t really teach link building tactics such as email outreach or guest posting.
  • The training includes essential downloadable resources, containing options like checklists.

Should you join Niche Site Profits?

If you’re looking to monetize a website primarily with display ads, this is one of the best courses you can buy.

Jon Dykstra is the real deal, and within Niche Site Profits he shares pretty much everything he’s done to generate $50,000+ per month from his own niche sites.

Add to that a relatively low price, an excellent private community, and the 30-day money-back guarantee… and you can’t really go wrong with this training.

Just keep in mind that that training is somewhat lacking on the topic of content creation, and you might find yourself struggling with the navigation every now and then.

But if you’re willing to put forth the time and effort, what Jon teaches is one of the more reliable ways to make money online.

Overwhelming for a beginner

I have no experience whatsoever with blogging and writing. In my research, I came across Fat Stacks on several websites, and it seems they all have nothing but good things to say about it.

When I first looked at the course, I was overwhelmed by the extensive content and modules available.

The private community/forum is very active and packed with value from the members, which I visit from time to time to read some of the threads. The community is willing to share their experiences and I have learned quite a lot from the forum alone.

Although I still have not completed the course, I am in no hurry and will be signing up annually to keep my membership on the forum.

Pros and Cons

  • Private community/forum
  • Extensive and detailed tutorials
  • Jon is very knowledgeable
  • Some videos are lengthy and it can be exhausting when I want to revisit the module/tutorial

Very enjoyable course

I’ve been meaning to start a blog for more than a decade, but I did not know where to start. I’m a digital marketer helping coaches and consultants myself so I am deep into lead generation.

Finally, I found Fat Stacks Bundle which is a very methodical and step-by-step course. Jon Dykstra, the course creator, has been at it for decades and is not making the course just to sell to a bunch of eager bloggers. He is a very genuine person from the experiences shared within the course.

As a beginner in the blogging world, it allowed me to minimize experimentation and learn from experts what WP themes to choose, what ad platforms to consider, and where and how to hire writers. It also made clear whether AI is going to be helpful for our blogging journey and how to make the best use of it.

This course has helped me find the right content creation team, choose the right themes for my blog site, as well as the right keyword, SEO, AI, and WordPress tools to use. I’m yet to monetize as it’s still early in the journey. However, I’m 100% sure I’ve already saved so much time and energy by using Jon’s methods.

I always look forward to Jon’s email newsletter as they are packed with so much value. Just go for it, don’t overthink it and you will get there, surely. Have fun making money blogging + SEO, etc.

Pros and Cons

  • Simplicity
  • Fun to consume content
  • Pretty much everything needed is covered
  • A lot of reading, same content in video format would have helped. Not so much of a problem though. Brilliant content.

My Fat Stacks Bundle review

Jon Dykstra has put together an in-depth course on how to build profitable niche sites.

For personal reasons, I’ve chosen a niche that doesn’t necessarily have great income potential. Still, I’ve been able to use the ideas that Jon presents to get traffic to my site and begin to earn some income.

I also like the fact that he keeps this course updated and shares new ideas that he comes up with.

Pros and Cons

  • The detailed videos about keyword research.
  • I'm not a fan of videos. Some of the course material would have been better in written form.

My Fat Stacks review

I took Jon Dykstra’s Fat Stacks course, which helps writers focus on content creation using low-competition keywords. I think there were some tactical pointers that I learned, but they mostly emphasized some of the lessons I had already learned.

The best part about Fat Stacks is the community access that you have as a member. I truly value all the people who participate in the forums. Blogging can be a lonely venture, so it’s good to be a part of a community of like-minded people who have similar goals as you do. That community alone is worth the cost of the course.

I’m still growing my website’s audience, but it has grown significantly since I bought it as an abandoned website earlier this year. Unfortunately, I have not yet monetized my website, so I cannot affirm any income increase as a result of this course. I can say that this course has helped me find keywords that enabled me to personally write over 120 original content articles over the past four months.

The Best Course For Mid-Level Bloggers

Fat Stacks is one of the most authentic and relatable courses out there. It’s my go-to recommendation for anyone who’s already seeing some success with their blog but wants to seriously scale up their effort.

This is like Income School, but bigger in order of magnitude. Jon runs a serious portfolio with an absolute ton of content being produced every month. His course is a great insight into his keyword research and experience with managing writers. It’s great value for a middle-level blogger, and probably the one I’d recommend the most.

Not only is the course great at explaining how Jon is making six figures a MONTH from his portfolio, but the confidence you receive seeing this kind of success, and the amazing community you get access to, are the perfect ingredients to turn you into a fantastic blog portfolio chef.

Pros and Cons

  • Access to plenty of information.
  • Positive, helpful community.
  • Relatable - no crazy tools or programs needed.
  • Specific to Jon's method only - doesn't cover brand building or backlinking.
  • Not the most polished, but does the job.

The best educational purchase I’ve made

My strength and interest are in writing, so this course is perfect for me. It’s an A to Z course on niche blogging from Jon Dykstra, who is super successful.

The material and presentation are lovely. Jon has left nothing out and updates the training material regularly.

The tech stuff is also presented clearly… even a tech newbie could handle it. I wish I had bought the course a long time ago.

Pros and Cons

  • Super thorough.
  • Excellent presentation.
  • Jon is an expert on the topic.
  • A lot to take in when starting (but there is an order given).
  • Annual fee (but worth it!).

This is the go-to blogging course I recommend to anyone that asks

I’ve taken other courses, but this is the one I recommend. There are lots of ways to earn money online, but Jon’s course is as deep as you need it to go, yet each lesson is fairly brief and actionable at each step.

The course is not organized well, but I understand this is being reworked in 2022. It certainly hasn’t stopped me from learning what Jon’s teaching. I have yet to touch all modules because they are organized in a way that lets me touch a topic when I’m ready for it.

The forum is filled with nuggets of info. I honestly don’t post often, but it’s because the search gets me what I need so far.

The Fat Stacks course has specifically allowed me to scale with a systemized way of approaching keyword research, hiring, and outsourcing.

Pros and Cons

  • Brief yet thorough lessons.
  • Updated modules.
  • The forum (access to Jon and other high earners).
  • Course organization.
  • Audio on the videos is inconsistent at times.
  • Finding new modules can be difficult.

Price is well worth it for an affiliate course

So far I love the good info. I wish I had this course a few months or a couple of years ago. I published over 60 articles to a site and I cannot really use most of the content unless I re-purpose it. I feel like this course will be a game-changer in my affiliate career. I am about to sell another site because it just needed so much work.

Pros and Cons

  • Keyword research.
  • Specific suggestions.
  • Down-to-earth talk on videos.
  • The "Start Here" section could be more specific, pointing you towards info about how to set up a home page.
  • Wish he told us how to use Elementor and Astra theme (I may have missed it if he did).
  • More info on linking articles would be helpful.

The course that provides what it offers

I can’t say Fat Stacks is the best affiliate/SEO course out there, but it is a value-for-money blogging course. In my opinion, this course would be great for someone already in the business but didn’t achieve much success or need to improve the game. This course includes some great tips and tricks that can help you improve your content site and monetize it with display ads.

The real gem of this course is the Fat Stacks Forum. Here you’ll find some valuable stuff from the forum members’ discussion and experience sharing, info that possibly has not been discussed in the course or any other place.

Pros and Cons

  • The Fat Stacks Forum.
  • No fluff, no shady tactics.
  • Jon includes only approaches that he has tested and done successfully.
  • Not suitable for a beginner as the course doesn't go into that much detail.
  • A significant portion of the course is in written form instead of over-the-shoulder video.
  • If you're into link building, then this is not for you. This course gives less emphasis on link building.

Excellent value, course creator has proven his methods

I did a ton of research when trying to decide which course(s) to purchase. I read a lot of Jon’s articles and watched him on YouTube. I appreciate that he doesn’t show success with a ‘How to Blog’ website like so many others who sell courses do.

I also emailed him and a few other course creators with a couple of questions I had about my website. He responded in a clear and concise way and months in, his advice was spot on. Other creators responded with fluffy answers, clearly just trying to sell their product. I am still working through the different modules and have found them very valuable.

I use his course in combo with another SEO course and am happy with them both. The online community has been incredible – there are members at all stages and reading success stories and seeing questions others have has been huge in helping me prevent problems from the beginning and has helped save me a lot of time. Jon is also active in the community. I’m very happy with the purchase and looking back, would have paid even more, knowing the value received.

Pros and Cons

  • Actionable advice.
  • Ongoing online community.
  • Jon adds relevant content to the course and I find it all useful.
  • Can be hard to decide the order of modules, but Jon gives a recommendation.

1 Questions & Answers

    • Hey Paul, good question. I just looked up some stats on ad-blocker usage, and yeah, more people use them than I expected. More on desktop devices than smartphones. However, judging by the revenue I’ve seen sites earn from display ads, it doesn’t seem to be a big deal. They can still earn plenty even with a bunch of visitors using ad block.

That said, it seems the most successful sites monetize with a combination of display ads and affiliate offers, and then eventually their own products/services. But in the beginning it’s usually best to focus on and master one monetization method.
