I’ve been getting a lot of questions off the back of my 7 Years As A Digital Nomad video, which is quickly closing in on a million views…
So yesterday in Marrakesh I took some time to sit down at a nice rooftop cafe and answer the most frequently asked questions, such as:
- How can you afford to travel all the time?
- Have you visited [insert country name here]?
- Are you back working 9-to-5 now?
- Can you help me do what you’ve done?
- How did you make $5000 in one day?
- Where to next?
Check out this video with my answers, or scroll down for the literary version 😉
How can you afford to travel all the time?
I saved up about €10k before I quit my job, just by being frugal, housesitting instead of paying rent, and selling pretty much everything I owned that wouldn’t fit in a backpack.
Then for the past 7 years I’ve earned money working online, which means I can earn money from anywhere in the world so long as I have my laptop and an internet connection. I’ve worked mostly as a freelance web designer to pay for everything.
I’ve actually tracked everything I’ve earned and spent during the past 7 years and published monthly finance reports, so you can literally see every euro, dollar and rupee that I’ve earned and spent along the way.
Have you visited [insert country name here]?
Probably not.
I’ve only been to about 50 countries so far. And there are almost 200 countries in the world. So there’s still a lot I haven’t seen.
Are you back working 9-to-5 now?
Nope. I’m off gallivanting around Morocco 🙂
Can you help me do what you’ve done?
Sure.

How did you make $5000 in one day?
I made $5k in one day via a guide that I created a couple of years ago called Travel The World + Work Online, which you can read about here.
How can I build an online business if I have no idea or business plan?
You don’t need a business plan. I’ve never had one.
All you really need is a skill that you can use to earn money online. If you don’t already have a skill and are unsure which one you should develop, check out the “Hedgehog” video here.
Where to next?
I’m staying put in Morocco for three weeks, then back to Gran Canaria for a few days, Ireland for Christmas, Gran Canaria again for a couple of weeks, then Bulgaria for a stretch.
I’ll be hopping around Europe most of 2018.

Hey Niall, did you have to apply for work or digital nomad visas when working remotely in various different countries?
Kudos to you, brother. Love how you’re demonstrating and teaching what’s possible! 🙂
