Renato is the founder and CEO of GitScrum, a cloud-based project management tool.
Users of GitScrum pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
It’s unclear how much Renato pays himself out of the company.
As reported in a July 2019 interview on Indie Hackers, GitScrum grew from $0 to $600,000 in revenue in its first 12 months after launch. That works out to $50,000 per month.
Renato has been programming from a young age, and had significant professional experience in IT before starting GitScrum.
From his Indie Hackers interview:
When I was eight years old, I asked my mom for an Atari, but I got an Apple II instead. Without knowing it, this was the catalyst for my entire career: BASIC became my first programming language and things developed their own momentum from there.
I now have over 15 years of IT expertise (many more if you count my first forays at eight years old) working for large companies and startups.
Regarding GitScrum:
It started out as a geek’s hobby. When I was the CTO of a Portuguese startup, I took some days off and started to write code to help me manage my team more efficiently and got hooked. It was hard to find the time to devote to it and I had to pull a lot of late nights to get things done.
According to our framework GitScrum is a cloud service business, which would be considered a Level 5 online business.
