In eBiz Weekly #28 I mentioned “long tail” social media sites, which are basically niche social media sites with a few hundred/thousand users paying a subscription.
I mentioned 3 examples of such:
- Farnam Street Learning Community —> 750 members paying $149+ per year = $111,750
- LGBTQ Chat —> 5200 members paying $200+ per year = $1,040,000
- World Future Society —> 1800 members paying $200 per year = $360,000
Turns out you have the same thing in the dating industry, only bigger.
A few examples:
- FarmersOnly —> 4.5 million members, premium accounts starting at $11/month 👨🌾
- CatholicMatch —> 1.5 million members, premium accounts starting at $12/month 😇
- MilitaryCupid —> 600k members, premium accounts starting at $12/month 🎖
That’s serious money.
Not that it’s easy to build one of these “long tail” businesses.
I consider them Level 3 online businesses.
Level 1 would be freelancing and remote work.
If you’re just starting out earning money online, stick with one of those.
