Recently I heard from a reader named Angus (not his real name).
Angus wanted to build an online business, but he was having a hard time deciding which opportunity to focus on.
We discussed the different options and it became clear to me that Angus was hung up on finding work he was passionate about 🥰
He’d dismiss this option and that option because they weren’t exciting enough. He couldn’t imagine himself jumping out of bed to do the work.
Whenever I hear this kind of thing, three stories come to mind:
- The story of Brian Scudamore, who built a $300 million/year business around something he definitely was NOT passionate about: hauling trash.
- The story of Angie and Dan Bastian, who built a $250 million business around something they had little interest in initially: kettle corn.
- And the story of Holly Johnson, who regularly earns $20,000/month as a freelance writer by occasionally taking on very tough or “boring”assignments.
These people didn’t wait to find their passion.
They rolled up their sleeves and made the most of whatever opportunities were available to them.
You need to do the same if you want to earn a living online.
Or, as one of my all-time favorite Reddit posts puts it: screw motivation – what you need is discipline.
