Well, just one video game really → Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Will’s team receives prize money if they perform well in a tournament.

How much money does Will make?

Esports Earnings put Will’s online earnings at $91,800 through the first six months of 2020:

That works out to an average of $15,300 per month.

And that’s much more than Will earned in years prior – his previous high for online earnings was $18,183 back in 2016 – mainly due to video game tournaments being moved online due to COVID-19.

It’s worth noting however that those numbers only account for prize money Will earned from online tournaments. Depending on his contract with Complexity Gaming, he may also be earning a salary, he might have to give up a percentage of his prize money, and there could be all sorts of other stipulations.

How did Will get started?

I couldn’t find any good info on this but it’s a safe bet that he played a TON of video games growing up, and has probably put 1000’s of hours into CS:GO.

Presumably he got so good at the game that he was able to start competing in bigger and better tournaments.

Here’s a video from Complexity Gaming talking about what it takes to become a pro gamer:

What type of online business does Will have?

It’s not entirely online since Will does compete quite a lot in “offline” tournaments.

But if we just take the online gaming aspect, then according to our framework Will has an Esports business and we’d consider it a Level X online business.
