Will and Ellen Rysanek print a booklet that routes people round 51 coffee shops in Wilmington, North Carolina, collecting a stamp at each one 🇺🇸
Locals and tourists pay $25 for it, sounds like they get a kick out of the mission to try each place.
Every shop gets a page with its story and a drink to try, 25 stamps earns a T-shirt, and all 51 puts your name in next year’s booklet.
They also sell ad pages inside the booklet, $350 a half page and $600 a full one, to the local realtor, the local gym, the local print shop.
Five runs of 500 have sold out since summer 2025, so around $60K at list prices 🤑
The 51 coffee shops don’t charge a cent, so buyers just order a drink and ask for a stamp.
Which leaves printing and postage as pretty much the only costs.
Will signed up every one of those shops on foot…
Emailing was not really getting me anywhere. You just have to go meet the owner and talk to them.
Raleigh and Durham came next, with their own passports at $30.
Do the same with the coffee shops in your own town, 30 to start, and sell the ad pages before you print 👍
