You probably landed on this page while looking for a review of the new Social Media Growth program by Tai Lopez.
While I haven’t yet seen inside the program myself, this article should help you decide if it’s worth buying.
(Spoiler alert: it’s probably not.)
About the Author
Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.
I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.
Since then, I’ve taken dozens of courses and earned a full-time living online doing a variety of things:
- Blogging
- Web design
- Advertising
- Online courses
- Ebooks
- Affiliate marketing
(Check out my monthly finance reports here to see all my latest income and expenses.)
I’ve also spent more than 100 hours researching Tai Lopez and going through some of his programs.
5 things you should know before buying Social Media Growth
- Tai always lowers the price later
- Tai will most likely extend the deadline
- You may not be entitled to a refund
- The #1 thing Tai Lopez can teach you
- Tai has many other (cheaper) programs
Tai always lowers the price later
Expect the price of Tai’s programs to be highest when he first releases them. Wait a few months, and you can usually buy them at a steep discount.
People are willing to pay more for something new. We have a bias towards new information. New info feels more exclusive, like a competitive advantage.
Tai often plays on this bias when promoting a new program…
Folks who signed up for that program right away might have gotten a head start.
But those who waited eight months got a $200 discount…
Four months after that, I clicked the link in the above email and found the same program available for only $97…
So in that particular case, waiting one year to buy Tai’s program would have saved you $600.
Waiting for the price to drop can backfire though 😕
For example, I bought Tai’s famous SMMA program (reviewed here) on sale for only $97…
Several months later, the price was 5x higher…
To make sure you buy Tai’s programs at the best possible price, I recommend signing up for his email list and keeping an eye out for special offers.
To sign up, go to tailopez.com and click “JOIN NOW Totally FREE” at the top right of the page.
It looks like this:
Once on Tai’s email list, it won’t be long before you see him offering a discount on one of his programs, or some kind of bundle deal.
Like this…
(Be aware that Tai tends to send a LOT of emails to his list, as many as 12 per week by one measure.)
Tai will most likely extend the deadline for joining Social Media Growth
Tai always sets a deadline for joining his programs at a particular price. Four times out of five, you can expect him to extend that deadline. Sometimes he’ll even extend it twice.
That “four times out of five” number is my best estimate after looking back over a years’ worth of emails from Tai Lopez.
Sometimes he’ll extend a sale for a few hours only…
But more often, he’ll extend the sale for a day or two…
Here’s another example of Tai extending a sale multiple times…
And here’s Tai citing a suspicious reason for extending yet another sale…
You can see more examples of Tai moving deadlines in this article: 7 Questionable Marketing Tactics Tai Lopez Uses To Make Money Online
You may not be entitled to a refund (definitely check this)
Tai Lopez sells multiple programs and the refund policy may differ for each. Make sure you check the refund policy for the course you’re interested in before you buy.
You can see all of Tai’s refund policies listed on his Terms and Conditions of Use page.
Some programs will have a straight-forward refund policy…
You may not be entitled to any refund on some of Tai’s programs…
While other programs might have an “action-based” refund policy…
Also be aware that the program you’re interested in may have a different refund policy depending on WHEN you buy it…
So be sure to check the T&C’s page for multiple mentions of the program before you buy it, and know which version of the refund policy applies to you.
You should also be aware of the following clause which applies to many of Tai’s programs:
Lastly on the topic of refunds, if you do want to request one, I’ve found that the best way to do so is via live chat support (more details here).
The #1 thing Tai Lopez can teach you…
…is sales and marketing.
As Tai notes in a disclaimer at the bottom of each email to his mailing list…
And since he’s a professional internet marketer, you can learn quite a bit from Tai without signing up for any of his programs – just pay close attention to how he tries to sell you on those very programs.
Be aware though that Tai likes to use some questionable marketing tactics, several of which we’ve outlined here:
And while Tai often makes it sound like his latest program is the best thing ever, in reality the quality of his programs varies quite a bit.
We bought and reviewed two of Tai’s courses in-depth…
The 67 Steps
You probably shouldn’t buy this one.
It’s a decent course packed with insights from some of the world’s greatest minds, but we can’t see how it offers much beyond what’s already freely available on Tai’s podcast and YouTube channel.
Social Media Marketing Agency 2.0
This one is well worth the price of admission.
We’ve yet to come across another course that offers such comprehensive training from so many experts at such a low price – provided you buy it on sale – with a thriving private community and dozens of believable success stories to boot.
Here’s our video review:
I can’t comment directly on the quality of any other program from Tai Lopez.
But as a general rule, I’d advise steering clear of those taught primarily by Tai himself.
Why?
Because, according to The Real Law Of 33%:
For every 30 minutes you listen to Tai Lopez talk, you will receive only 10 minutes of value.
In other words, approximately 33% of what Tai has to say is incredibly useful, insightful, and perhaps even life-changing.
And the rest is either pointless rambling, Tai reminding you how successful he is, or claims that can’t be taken at face value.
At least, that’s the conclusion we came to at the end of this video:
With that in mind, before signing up to any Tai Lopez program, check who actually teaches the material inside.
Usually it’s not Tai doing the teaching.
Check out the people who ARE teaching the material.
Google them and see if they have the right credentials and expertise.
Tai has many other (cheaper) programs
Tai’s newest program is usually expensive. And you’ll have to wait a while before in-depth reviews appear online. But Tai’s older programs are usually priced much lower, and you can find in-depth reviews for most of them.
Here’s an attempt to list all of Tai’s programs:
- 12 Foundations
- 3 Day Money Mentor
- 5 Minute Mentor
- Accelerator Program
- Amazon Sales Blueprint
- Bitcoin Crypto Mastermind
- BNB Formula
- Cashflow System
- Credit Mentor
- Digital Social Marketing Consulting (DSMC)
- E-Commerce Blueprint
- Ecomm Agency
- Home Sharing Management Company (HSMC)
- How Tai Makes Money Online
- How To Invest
- Knowledge Society
- Mentor Program
- Mini MBA Academy
- Real Estate Mentor
- Real Estate Wholesale
- Sales Mastery Black Belt
- Social Media Growth
- Social Media Marketing Agency (SMMA) – in-depth review
- The 67 Steps – in-depth review
- Website Funnel Building Agency
If you’ve never bought one of Tai’s programs before, I recommend you start NOT with his newest (and probably most expensive) program.
Instead, look through the above list and choose an older, refundable, and more reasonably priced program to start with.
Based on your experience with that, you can make a more informed decision about whether or not to invest in one of Tai’s newer programs.
