About the Author
Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.
I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.
Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Over the last 4 years (through 2023) I’ve earned $842,000 from my laptop.
I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best online business courses. My team and I are spending many hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.
All that to say: we know a thing or two about such courses and making money online.
How does Scale Your Travel Blog help you make money?
Scale Your Travel Blog aims to help you build and grow a blog – ideally a travel blog – that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.
It teaches you how to make money from your blog in several ways, including affiliate marketing, display ads, and sponsorships.
Here’s how the sales page explains what you can learn in the course…
Affiliate marketing seems to be the main monetization method taught within the course, as that topic gets about as much time and attention as sponsorships and ads combined.
Who is Scale Your Travel Blog for?
Scale Your Travel Blog sells itself as a platform for bloggers of all experience levels…
We work with travel bloggers at any stage of their journey. Scale Your Travel Blog is the ultimate resource, which we created so that you don’t have to buy thousands of other courses.
If you are an aspiring, beginner, intermediate, or advanced travel blogger and you’re looking to make money (or more money) from your travel blog, we can help!
The course isn’t for you if you expect to get rich quick or already make over 6 figures from ads and affiliate marketing.
This is a fair assessment, IMO.
I’m convinced that even advanced bloggers will find solid value in the training, especially since Laura offers so much personalized feedback and coaching in the advanced program.
In fact, if you really value receiving direct feedback about your blog – rather than going through general training videos and trying to figure out how the info applies to your situation – then I’d say Scale Your Travel Blog is custom-built for you.
Another unique selling point of the SYTB version that includes coaching is that after you sign up, Laura will research and send you 25 personalized keywords…
The goal with these keywords is to give you topics that you can write about and rank in the top 10 on Google.
The not-so-obvious benefit of this is that new students don’t need to sign up for expensive keyword research software right away.
Laura uses her experience and that software for you and sends along personalized results so you can focus on content creation for the first few weeks.

Do Mike & Laura have a good reputation?
Absolutely.
Having browsed through the training and researched Mike and Laura extensively, I found little chatter online.
But the positive feedback we’ve collected from students has been phenomenal.
Plus, they have amassed a respectable following on Instagram…
And they also appear to walk their talk, still earning good money from their own travel blog…
I love seeing course creators in the trenches and constantly doing and redoing the things they’re teaching.
That way they can relate to students at all stages of their blogging journey.
Here’s a video from Mike and Laura’s YouTube channel that will give you an idea of their teaching style…
Are Mike & Laura Travel’s students getting results?
Browse through the sales page and you’ll find no shortage of student testimonials…
While some testimonials are rather vague, there are some great success stories from 2024, such as the following…
I’ve also seen some solid success stories within the SYTB community 💪
Overall, I think the training proves effective for most people who consistently put in the work.
How much does Scale Your Travel Blog cost?
You’re presented with two options when buying Scale Your Travel Blog…
- Course, community, coaching, done-for-you SEO
- Course + community only
The first option costs $2,497 one time or 6x monthly payments of $427 ($2,562 total)
You can buy access to option one by clicking here.
The second option costs $797 one time, or 3 payments of $280 ($840 total)
You can buy access to option two by clicking here.
You have lifetime access with each option.
It’s unclear on the sales page, but you’ll also need to put some money aside for hosting.
Laura and Mike recommend A2 Hosting, which costs about $50 a year to get started.
You’ll also need a domain, which is about $10 per year..
Scale Your Travel Blog Discount?
I couldn’t find any discount codes, so it looks like it’s full-price only.
However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Scale Your Travel Blog checkout.
I’d recommend signing up to Mike & Laura’s email list and giving them a follow on social.
That way if they ever offer a discount on their training, you’ll be sure to hear about it.
Refund Policy
Scale Your Travel Blog offers a 14-day refund policy
The official word…
…if you don’t feel our program is of value, we will refund your money within the first 14 days.
Ideally this would be 30 days, but I haven’t seen any complaints about refunds, so you should be safe with this policy.
How is Scale Your Travel Blog structured?
Here’s how the training appears once you’ve logged in…
The training is divided into 8 modules, one of which is a bonus module that expands on additional ways to earn money from blogging.
Each lesson is a video and some contain supplemental text-based lessons.
If you watch them all at normal speed, it will take you a bit more than 10 hours to go through everything.
What Scale Your Travel Blog seems to lack in length, it more than makes up for it with its coaching sessions…
(Remember though that the coaching is only available with the more expensive option)
Reviewers claim it’s coaching that’s most responsible for their increased blog traffic.
I’ve personally reviewed several of the coaching and Q&A sessions hosted by Laura, and seen some of the personalized feedback screencasts and documents she sends along to students.
My takeaway: the level of personal care and attention delivered to students as part of SYTB is simply outstanding.
For example, I’ve seen Laura deliver a 1.5-hour personalized site audit to a student packed full of valuable feedback and recommendations.
Laura told me via email that this is par for the course…
[Site audits] are broken into two parts. Part one includes off-page SEO and structural changes we recommend our students make to their websites.
The goal is to make them more user-friendly. And part two covers on-page SEO, backlinks, affiliate marketing, and sometimes email marketing depending on where they are with their site.
The goal of part two is to increase visibility and income.
With both payment options, you also get access the highly active private FB community…
I browsed through many of the group’s posts. I found them engaging, helpful, and a valuable addition to the training.
The course also includes many bonuses and templates, such as blog post templates and email outreach templates.
And let’s not forget all the customized services and group calls on offer…
- Complete website audit
- Done-for-you keyword research
- 6 blog post outlines
- 4 blog post reviews
- 12 group coaching calls
- 6 monthly Q&A’s
- Monthly coffee hour calls
Yep, that’s a lot of good stuff.
However, I do have a few nitpicks about the program: there aren’t any transcripts or subtitles for the videos, nor is there a search function, so it might be tricky to find your way back to a particular lesson or part of a lesson.
