73 ways to make money online
I’ll bet that this article we published yesterday is the best “make money online” article you’ve ever seen 😎
It’s the gateway to 123 fresh pages of content based on our “6 Levels and 19 Types of online business” framework, all backed up with proper research and real examples.
6 levels and 19 types of online business
Our updated framework is here, complete with mountain visuals I spent way too much time creating 🙈
Think of the framework like a map 🗺 showing you the key features of the online business landscape. Use the map to cut through confusion and overwhelm, and decide which type of business is the best fit for your goals and abilities.
Here’s a quick overview of the 6 levels and 19 types…
Level 1 = Novice
Okay for side income or beer money, but hard to earn a living.
Level 2 = Intermediate
Best for earning a living online when you’re starting out, but hard to scale.
Level 3 = Advanced
Easier to scale and higher income potential, but you usually need significant investment of time and/or money upfront.
Level 4 = Superior
Even more scalable and even higher income potential, but also more complex / difficult / expensive.
Level 5 = Distinguished
Most complex / difficult / expensive, but the rewards here can be massive.
Level X = Wildcard
These are the misfits. Many aren’t even considered businesses in the traditional sense, but they are all ways to make money online. You typically need a lot of time, money, or luck to succeed with anything here.
Some profiles to give you a sense of those types and levels…
$7-20/hour social media evaluator
This would be a GetPaidTo business (Level 1).
You don’t need any special skills to do this kind of work, but you’re also unlikely to earn a living from it.
$35k-70k/year remote executive assistant
We consider a remote job to be a Level 2 online business. (Though it’s not technically a business, I know.)
Up to $44/hour teaching English online
That’s on a platform called iTalki.
That would be a freelance business (Level 2).
$1 million in 3 years ethical hacking
He’d also be considered a freelancer (Level 2), proving it’s possible to earn big money with that type of business if you’re highly skilled and in the right industry.
$13k/month niche site
That’s a referral business (Level 3).
$300k first year dropshipping
Dropshipping is considered a resale business (Level 3), since you order product on behalf of the customer and get it sent to them.
Rene reported a 12-15% profit margin, which works out to $36k-45k profit that first year.
$28k/month YouTube ad revenue
YouTubers like Patricia have an authority business (Level 4).
$5k/month making mobile games
That would be considered a digital products business (Level 4).
$80k/month luxury shoe brand
KASA is a luxury shoe and accessory brand that designs products in the UK, manufactures in Italy, sells online, and ships worldwide.
That’s a physical products business (Level 5).
$58k/month from a services marketplace
It’s an online marketplace for freelancers who offer services related to building and optimizing funnels.
Marketplace businesses are Level 5.
$20k/month from Facebook groups
That’s a social network business (Level 5). Colin essentially grew his own social networks (Facebook Groups) within an existing social network (Facebook), and monetized them in various ways.
The best way to make money online?
Lots to chew on above, so I’ll wrap this up by pointing you towards what I consider the most reliable path to a successful online business.
You’ll see it at the bottom of this page, under the heading “What’s the best path for you?”
(This link should get you there directly, unless my newsletter software goes all 🤪)
Lastly, your feedback is very welcome on all this new content.
I hear from people all the time who say they’re overwhelmed by all the options for working online, not sure where to start, what’s realistic, who to trust, etc.
It’s a jungle out there, and my goal with eBiz Facts is to make it easier for you to find your way.
So let me know in the comments if this new content helps you do that, and how we might make it even better 🙏
That’ll do it for this week.
