Ghostwriting for $5500/month
A new interview published on eBiz Facts: How I built a ghostwriting business and earn $5500/month from anywhere in the world
Matt Rudnitsky’s story is raw and honest and I think you’ll dig it 👍
In the first draft of the interview, Matt mentioned in passing that he’d found many of his clients by sending cold emails. We asked him to elaborate on that, and he laid out a full cold email template, complete with tips and explanations. Tis good stuff.
$430,000 so far this year, living in Bali
Another interview we published this week: How I help women start earning online and run a $50k/month business from Bali
Esther Inman quit her corporate job and started working as a virtual assistant 6 years ago, earning $15-20/hour from her first clients.
Nowadays she helps other folks earn a living online doing VA work, and business is booming 🚀
It shows you “top emerging content ideas and low-competition keywords.”
But perhaps more interesting is the story of how that site came to be, as shared by founder Josh Howarth on Reddit a couple of days ago.
I’d started to realize that it’s 100X easier to bootstrap a profitable online business if you ride a big market trend. Jump on the opportunity before the competition gets too fierce.
[…] businesses take years of sales, marketing and general hard work even after you’ve launched. I’d like to know that life force is going into a growing opportunity, not a shrinking one.
Josh built Exploding Topics over a 6-month period and recently sold part of it to Brian Dean of Backlinko:
We settled on an amount equivalent to how much I’d earn as a US-based engineer working 6 months, but then multiplied by X for the traction/success factor already achieved. And I also still have a stake in the project going forward.
Chatbots + Massage Guns
Those are two keywords that caught my eye while browsing Exploding Topics.
The chatbots keyword has leveled out a bit recently but has grown almost 10x the past 5 years 📈
A couple weeks back, Screw The Nine To Five did a podcast about chatbots – Messenger bots, specifically – and reported a ~3x improvement in conversion rate compared to email.
Definitely opportunities there for boosting your own business and/or helping clients set up and optimize chatbots.
Meanwhile, massage guns are a thing I didn’t know existed, and look to be gaining in popularity.
I’m already seeing “X best massage guns” articles on Google and you can bet they’re starting to rack up some nice affiliate commissions 🤑
Video: how to spot a scam
This excellent 22-minute video should be required viewing for everyone starting an online business: The Contrepreneur Formula Exposed (youtube.com)
It breaks down the tricks self-proclaimed business gurus use to sell 💩 products.
There’s a misconception that only thick people get scammed. That is not true at all. Anyone can be scammed. It has less to do with IQ and more to do with where you are in life. Whether you’re struggling with money problems, you hate your job, if you’re just feeling a bit down, you are more vulnerable and more likely to be sold on a shortcut.
I found that video via this Reddit post: Please be very wary of any “business personality” who is selling a “method” to be a rich or a millionaire
By this point I’m starting to realise these people aren’t selling you a product but a dream. Have you noticed how none of them talk about what skills you will gain, it’s more about lifestyle and FREEDOM you gain. I seriously doubt anyone has got rich in a year from drop shipping or affiliate marketing unless you already had a following you could leverage.
That skills comment is on point 🎯
Dropshipping isn’t a skill. Neither is affiliate marketing.
You need to develop a whole bunch of skills to succeed at either of those, or any other kind of online business.
Brutally honest review of Affilorama
Yesterday I published an in-depth review of yet another crappy affiliate marketing course 👎
With each review I try to SHOW you why the course is good (or bad), not just tell you.
So, as usual, there are a ton of images in this latest review, including one of not an elephant.
Looking to do more meaningful work?
It’s a monster, but there’s a handy two-minute summary near the top.
A recent episode of the Tropical MBA podcast: Is the RV Lifestyle Right For You?
Great insights there from an experienced RVer, worth a listen if you like the idea of living on wheels 🚐
You can read my latest batch of personal ramblings over on Patreon.
It concludes with a quote from Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the great unifiers of Japan 🇯🇵
“At the moment of victory, tighten the straps of your helmet.”
I find this to be especially important before riding a scooter in Southeast Asia 😉
That’ll do it for this week.
