From broke to $10k in two months
The guy was broke and effectively homeless back in July. Now he’s on track to earn $10k next month from a handful of clients 💰
He offers digital marketing services and found his clients through Upwork. Sounds like he didn’t learn any new skills since July so much as he started to treat his freelancing like a proper business.
I went all-in on the freelancer path. I told my depression and dependencies to eat shit, actually went to bed and woke up at reasonable times, and put in 12 hour days.
Basically – I hit an inflection point in my life back this summer. I’d been working unserious gigs, not taking care of my finances and ultimately not taking care of myself.
Get serious. Start grinding. Set goals. But always look back at where you came from in context of where you want to go.
Your journey might not happen as quickly as mine did – from borderline homeless and absolutely depressed to $10K a month… but everyone’s timeline is different. And all that matters is that you get there.

The Magic Email
If you’ve been following up with a client or lead and hearing nothing back, try sending this email:
Since I have not heard from you on this, I have to assume your priorities have changed.
Kai Davis calls it The Magic Email and writes:
It’s simple, intentionally vague, and absolutely effective.
I get at least a 50% response rate with most of them being positive.
It works because it makes it clear to the recipient that you’ve moved on. Since people are loss averse, their natural inclination is to reply immediately in order to keep you from walking away. You’re taking back control of the situation by declaring it over.
Better than a bank
I’m liking the sound of the latest offering from Stripe.

YouTube Optimization Experiment
Matt Giovanisci made some smart tweaks to his existing YouTube videos and saw solid results 📈
The numbers aren’t mind-blowing right now – about $14,000 via YouTube so far this year – but those small incremental improvements should add up massively over time.
Two tips that stood out to me:
- Video thumbnails should “include a human face that conveys an emotion.”
- Change the watermark in the bottom right corner of your videos to a subscribe icon.
