This post on Reddit has stuck with me ever since I read it a couple of years ago.
The message is that business is hard because we tend to look for easy solutions.
To avoid this trap…
We do something actually difficult.
We go where others fear. We go where others are scared of the unknown.
Usually in business we call this “Barriers to entry”, yet most people see this as “Barriers to actually taking action and changing your life”.
“It’s too hard!”
“I don’t know how!”
“My idea is too complex!”
Good. Those are your advantages.
Those are your advantages because most people will be scared off even trying, leaving you as one of the few people giving it a shot.
