π€ What is Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate claims to be the best affiliate marketing platform and training to help you make money online.
They offer an all-in-one solution that seems to have been effective up until about 2016.
Nowadays, most of their successful students seem to be earning the majority of their affiliate income by convincing other people to sign up for Wealthy Affiliate π
Key points…
- Lots of shiny objects
Don’t be fooled by the platform, supplemental weekly training, and included tools. It seems good, but it appears the number of people actually getting results is minimal. - Little evidence of student success
It looks like the core blogging strategies taught here are outdated and haven’t worked well for years. It remains to be seen if future updates will address this. - No refunds
While there’s a free plan, the training there is limited. If you choose to upgrade to premium, it’s unlikely you can get your money back if dissatisfied.
π° Pricing
Wealthy Affiliate has 3 paid subscription plans, each with a monthly and yearly payment optionβ¦
- Premium: $49/mo or $497/yr
- Premium Plus: $99/mo or $697/yr
- Premium Plus Accelerated: $299/mo or $2497/yr
When compared to the prices of other affiliate marketing courses, WA Premium and Premium Plus+ fare pretty well…
But the Accelerated plans don’t compare well at all…
Our price ratings are based on the cost of accessing each course for 2 years π
While Wealthy Affiliate can end up being quite expensive, there are at least no additional costs beyond the price of the membership.
That’s because all paid plans include a domain, hosting, research tools, content generation, etc.
π€ Discount
In addition to the paid tiers, there’s a free “Starter” plan which grants you access to limited versions of the tools and training included with paid Wealthy Affiliate plans.
I wasn’t able to find any type of discounted access other than this.

π¨βπ» Student Insights
Weβve surveyed 41 students of Wealthy Affiliateβ¦

To save you time, weβve had our AI summarize all those reviews into 7 key points, giving priority to the most recent feedbackβ¦
Outdated content
Many users express that the training is outdated and no longer relevant to modern affiliate marketing techniques. Core concepts like SEO and keyword research are often seen as inadequate in todayβs competitive environment.
Supportive community
The community aspect receives positive feedback, with many users appreciating the helpfulness and support from fellow members. However, some feel the community can be overwhelming or filled with beginners who may not provide expert advice.
Frustration with limited earnings
Several users report that despite following the training for months or even years, they struggled to make any significant income, particularly without promoting Wealthy Affiliate itself, leading to disappointment.
Limited advanced training
While the course is seen as a good starting point for beginners, users often criticize the lack of advanced strategies, particularly around topics like link building and social media marketing.
High-pressure upselling
Some reviewers note that there is a strong emphasis on upselling additional services like Premium Plus memberships, which can feel overwhelming and detract from the learning experience.
Website hosting issues
The platformβs website hosting services receive criticism for being slow and problematic, with difficulties transferring domains when users choose to leave the platform.
Value for beginners
For those new to affiliate marketing, the course provides a clear introduction to basic concepts. However, intermediate and experienced users generally find the course lacking in depth and not suitable for scaling an affiliate business.
πΈ Refund Policy
Wealthy Affiliate has no public refund policy I could find, so it’s safest to assume there are no refunds.
This is backed by some student complaints we found posted within WAβ¦
π Reputation
It’s no secret Wealthy Affiliate has a lot of positive ratings and reviews on Trustpilotβ¦
Turns out that the owners of Wealthy Affiliate βactively manageβ their reputation on Trustpilot, and have used βvarious marketing campaignsβ to increase their rating thereβ¦
And reading through those TP reviews, I noticed something oddβ¦
The vast majority of people who leave a positive review of Wealthy Affiliate seem to have earned very little money online.
In fact, many of the 5 star reviews appear to be posted by people who have yet to get started.
For exampleβ¦
Even this reviewer called out WA for not having student success storiesβ¦
To conclude this section, the vast majority of positive reviews youβll see of Wealthy Affiliate come from two types of peopleβ¦
- Affiliates who earn a commission if you join WA through their link
- Excited and hopeful students who have yet to earn significant affiliate income
In contrast, better affiliate marketing courses weβve reviewed show many of their students having success without promoting that same course to others.
So yeah, not a great reputation rating for WA in the endβ¦
π§ Should You Join Wealthy Affiliate?
Join if…
- You’re an absolute beginner seeking community β You won’t find advanced tactics here, and you’re unlikely to make money. But if your goal is a feeling of belonging over results, WA is a decent option.
- You’re okay with the MLM vibes β Because it seems the only people making money here are those promoting the course itself.
Don’t join if…
- You have experience with affiliate marketing β In my opinion, most of the material is shiny objects for beginners who don’t know any better. Most marketers shouldn’t waste their time.
- You expect fast wins with niche blogging β Achieving success requires patience and effort, and it’s rare to see instant outcomes. Plus evidence suggests results are unlikely outside of the MLMy approach of promoting the program itself.
π Questions & Answers
Does WA own my website or do I?
Itβs yours, but WA doesnβt make it easy for you to transfer the site elsewhere.
They have lots of information about how to transfer a website TO their hosting, but nothing about how to transfer a website AWAY.
And it appears they don’t want you to be able toβ¦
Given this, I advise against starting your site on WA’s platform to begin with.
Is Wealthy Affiliate’s hosting worth it?
No, I donβt think so.
It wouldnβt be a bad deal if WAβs hosting was actually βworld classβ like they claim it to be.
But in reality, their hosting is nothing special.
I think youβre way better off buying your hosting and domains from a company that does hosting and domains as their main thing (not as a side business).
Would you advise against going Premium?
Yes, I would advise going against Premium even for a month.
The best part of the WA training is the free stuff.
In my opinion, it goes rapidly downhill in the later (premium) modules.
Also, as I found out, if you sign up for Premium for one month and then cancel, they completely lock you out of your account.
You donβt just revert back to having the same access as a free member π‘
So your account is useless if you start paying and then stop.
I’d suggest two courses over WA β TASS and Affiliate Lab. They are both much better.
What should I do if I bought Wealthy Affiliate and regret it?
First, donβt blame yourself for WA.
Theyβre very persuasive and hide their flaws well.
Iβm sure there are thousands of people out there who feel the same way you do after spending several months in WA.
If you need to earn money ASAP, forget about online for now.
Just go get a regular offline job. Even if itβs a crappy job, at least it gives you a regular income.
Once you have some stability, you can go back to building an online business.
