My favorite part is her response to a question about how she managed to write the book while holding down a full-time job…

I always like to remind people that the book was actually 5+ years in the making (learning and distilling the expertise) when I answer this question.

I think I originally heard of Jack Kerouac’s book written in three weeks and an interview where he’s asked “How long did it take you to write ‘On The Road’”, to which Jack replies, “Three weeks”.

But when Allen asks, “How long were you on the road for?”, Jack says, “Seven years”. In other words, Kerouac spent seven years and three weeks writing that book.
