Marshall Haas shares the story of EmojiMasks.com, an ecommerce store his company set up back in 2014.

The idea was to create and sell real physical emoji masks, including such classics as 😍 and 💩

They wanted to have the masks ready for the Halloween market so they only had 60 days from conception to launch. They racked up $3609 in expenses, mostly on inventory from a mask factory they found via Alibaba.

It all paid off when they did $51,365 in total revenue in the lead-up to the holiday 💰

Simply put, it was incredibly novel. The concept was also dead simple to understand with a photo. Emoji’s were super popular, but at the time, no one had put them on many physical products yet.
