Jocelyn Sams
- Co-founder of Elementary Librarian
- $1 million sale price of Elementary Librarian
Started in 2012 by a husband-and-wife / teacher-and-librarian team, Elementary Librarian is described as “a membership site with ready-made lesson plans and a space for elementary school librarians to share ideas” 👩💻
The couple – Shane and Jocelyn Sams – told Forbes that they were earning a combined $76K/year from their day jobs when they started the business.
A year later, in July 2013, the couple had their first five-figure month, earning $15,000. The next month, they made $36,000. “It was a year’s teaching salary in a month, and it was for a product that we had already created and didn’t have to keep working on,” says Shane.
By 2016 they were earning $50,000/month, and they went on to sell Elementary Librarian for about $1 million in 2017 once they’d hit 1000 paying members.
