HealthyWage Review

How does HealthyWage work? Is it legit or a scam?

  • Wendy Wage

  • HealthyWage Winner
  • $1,945 average weight loss prize

How does Wendy make money online?

Wendy doesn’t really exist. She’s our avatar to represent a typical winner of a weight loss challenge on HealthyWage.

HealthyWage is a website where you can bet money that you’ll reach your weight loss goal. If you win the bet, HealthyWage pays you a cash prize.

Here’s a 2018 news feature on HealthyWage that explains more about how it works:

Is HealthyWage a scam?

Based on my research, HealthyWage is a legit website and not a scam.

The company has received an A rating from the Better Business Bureau, and numerous newspapers, magazines and TV shows have featured HealthyWage since it was founded in 2009.

Media outlets that have featured HealthyWage include:

  • NPR
  • NBC’s Today Show
  • Good Morning America!
  • The Wall Street Journal
  • The New York Times

How much money does Wendy make?

We analyzed 211 success stories posted on the HealthyWage website and found that the average prize awarded was $1,945.

The average weight loss for those 211 people was 64 lbs, which works out to just over $30 in prize money for every pound lost.

However, it seems those prize amounts do not factor in the amount each person paid HealthyWage to participate in a challenge.

For example, Whitney C reported paying a total of $900 to participate in a challenge:

So while Whitney ultimately won $2,659, her monetary “profit” from the challenge was only $1,759.

Therefore, if you’d like to give HealthyWage a try yourself, remember: you’ll likely have to spend a few hundred dollars AND lose significant weight to have a chance of winning a cash prize.

If you’re okay with that…

How did Wendy get started?

Wendy would have signed up to HealthyWage here, entered a contest, and started losing weight.

What type of online business does Wendy have?

According to our framework HealthyWage would fall into the Betting category, and we’d consider it a Level X online business.
