Check out this article from Vice: People Are Buying Digital Clothes Because That’s a Thing Now
Digital fashion makes everything traditional fashion does—shirts, dresses, pants, hats, shoes, and accessories—but none of it is tangible. Instead, customers “wear” digital clothing through augmented reality and digitally altered photos.
Mentioned in the article is DressX, a digital clothing marketplace. Last I checked, the highest priced item on there was an Avatar inspired dress-type thing for $1400 🤷♂️
Also mentioned is 3D artist Stephy Fung…
Fung, who’s based in London, was commissioned to create the 3D environments—things like texturing, camera animation, and lighting—for a digital fashion campaign.
I couldn’t find info on the revenue split DressX offers designers, so it’s unclear how much money you can make designing and selling digital clothes on there.
But DressX recently raised $3.3 million and they’re encouraging 3D designers, fashion designers and fashion brands to get in touch for collaborations.
