Dave HF – Investor

  • $1,244 return on $14,813 investment with Fundrise

How does Dave make money online?

It looks like Dave makes money online in various ways, but for the purposes of this profile I’m just focusing on the money he’s earned investing with the online real estate investment platform Fundrise.

“With Fundrise, you can invest in a low-cost, diversified portfolio of institutional-quality real estate. We combine state-of-the-art technology with in-house expertise to reduce fees and maximize your long-term return potential.” – fundrise.com

In other words, the platform lets you invest as little as $500 in real estate projects. Your money is combined with money invested by other users of the platform, and used to buy real estate. You then earn a return on your investment if the projects increase in value.

How much money does Dave make?

According to a video Dave posted in May 2020, he’d earned returns of $1244 from Fundrise in about 18 months of investing on the platform…

Dave shows in that video that the total value of his portfolio is $16,057. Presumably then he had invested a total of $14,813, giving him an 8.4% return on his investment.

Dave also notes in the video however that he had been reinvesting all his Fundrise dividends.

How did Dave get started?

Dave gives some insights into his background in this July 2019 video:

Highlights:

  • From 20-35 years of age, he was living paycheck to paycheck.
  • Starting in 2010, he started saving and investing heavily.
  • In 2017 his net worth amounted to more than $1 million.

Dave also mentions in the video that he’s a self-taught investor. He apparently spent many years doing day trading and credits the book Rich Dad Poor Dad with changing his money mindset.

What type of online business does Dave have?

Dave runs a multifaceted online business.

But if we just take the Fundrise aspect, then according to our framework this would fall into the Investing category, and we’d consider it a Level X online business.
