NASA Engineer’s Closet Side Hustle Earns $32K a Month

  • Eryn Andrews

  • Voiceover Artist (and NASA Engineer)
  • $32,400 average monthly revenue

Eryn Andrews is a full-time engineer at NASA in Houston.

On the side, she records voiceovers for company training videos and voicemail greetings from her closet.

She started in 2022 as a newly divorced single mom.

The goal was an extra $200 a month, so she could treat her daughter to ice cream or the children’s museum without feeling guilty.

First she invested $200 in a voiceover class, a microphone and a Walmart mattress topper for soundproofing.

Then she undercut the other voice actors on Fiverr (a freelance marketplace) at $5 per 100 words, and made about $1,000 in month one.

These days she says…

[I don’t] turn on my computer for less than $200

Her voiceover income now averages around $32K a month on 1–8 hours a week, well past her NASA salary 🀯

Most of her clients, Apple included, still book her on Fiverr πŸ‘€

Her numbers are far from typical, but the route in is standard.

A Fiverr voiceover couple we featured previously went from a $10 first gig to $50 per 100 words.

Open a Fiverr voiceover gig for short corporate scripts, price low until the reviews stack up, then keep raising your rate πŸŽ™οΈ
