$2,000 His First Month as Reddit’s Golf Deals Guy

  • David Paxton

  • Golf Deals Site Owner
  • $2,000 in his first month

David Paxton loves golf and hates what it costs. So in July 2021 he launched Daily Golf Steals, rounding up the best discounts on clubs, balls and shoes.

He made over $2,000 in his first month πŸ€‘

No SEO, no ad spend. He went where 800,000 golfers already were – r/golf, which had a “deal guy” posting bargains for free. David took up the mantle.

Which was a risk, because that sub has no patience for self-promo. From a recent write-up πŸ‘‡

Despite their general distaste for self-promotion, the r/golf subreddit embraced Daily Golf Steals because the deals were genuinely valuable.

He kept it that way by posting plenty of deals with no affiliate link at all πŸ‘€

The ones that do carry a link pay 1% to 20% depending on the retailer – so $5 to $20 on a $100 purchase.

Every post ends with a link to his newsletter too, pulling in about 10 new subscribers a day.

Five years on, the list is up to 35,000, there’s a full-time employee, and David’s down to about 3 hours a week πŸ’ͺ

Pick a hobby with expensive gear and a busy subreddit, then become the person who posts the bargains πŸ‘
