Interesting way to get freelance clients

Alec Larson builds sites and sells them on Flippa, makes about $1000/month doing that 💰

But he also writes:

Every time I auction a website, one lucky person wins and becomes the new owner. Of the people who don’t win, a lot of them send me job offers to build similar websites for them.

Since I’m creating custom websites for these clients I charge a lot more. These are typically entrepreneurs who are very serious about their endeavors and will pay well to get what they want.

So he’s essentially using Flippa as lead generation for his freelance work. It’s a way for him to showcase what he can do, on a platform where many of his ideal clients hang out.
