2017 – used donations to buy land on the US-Mexico border to stop Trump building the wall
2018 – 99% off bizarre items (eg. a golden dildo)
2019 – pitted their writers against Artificial Intelligence, sold $160k of cards
2020 – donated $250k budget to nonprofits
For Black Friday 2021, they launched a website at getfivedollars.com and explained…

They paid people $100 to get vaccinated, $10k for correctly guessing how many jelly beans they put in a Cadillac, $5 to give a hot dog to a mail carrier, and on and on.
As usual, their anti-Black Friday shenanigans generated a ton of publicity 📢
