🌭 CostcoHotdog.com is one of the stranger websites I’ve seen in a while.
The header reads…
THE GREATEST HOTDOG EVER
AN ODE TO THE COSTCO HOTDOG
Looks like it was started in 2012 and only has a handful of articles, the most recent from 2017. It’s monetized with display ads 🤑
Spencer Haws tweeted that the site gets 101,000 visitors from search engines each month (according to Ahrefs).
A response to that tweet…
I assume RPM is low but probably does about $1k/month
Could be more than that, given that Ubersuggest pegs their organic traffic at 374k/month 📈
And it could be less, given that SimilarWeb estimates their total traffic at 49k/month 📉
But it’s probably safe to say that it’s earning at least a few $100 per month… despite being a tiny website about Costco hotdogs that hasn’t been updated for 6 years 🤯
Doesn’t look like the toughest site to compete with either, so if you’re a fan of Costco’s hotdogs it might be worth quickly spinning up your own website on the topic.
But try not to use Costco in the domain. As a few responders to Spencer’s tweet pointed out, using someone else’s brand name like that is just asking for trouble 😱
