We are 27 months into taking payments at The Church Co. It took 22 months to get to $10k and just 5 months later we are at $15k.
So apparently they started around mid-2017.
Paul’s update from November 2020…
It’s safe to say that this idea has been validated now. We have 1000 customers and $42k MRR.
Soon after that, he stopped sharing revenue numbers 🙁
See here for The Church Co’s pricing options. They charge $0 for setup so long as you sign a 1-year contract for one of their monthly payment plans, which range from $29-199 per month.
Brett Williams uses a similar model for DesignJoy – which apparently pulls in $40k+ per week 🤯 – and reckons there’s a lot more room for this kind of thing in the web design space…
1. Pick a niche (gyms) and develop ~5 solid web templates.
2. Charge $0 setup fee and personalize the site accordingly.
3. Charge $99/m maintenance plan after that.Extremely attractive offer for client, with long-term recurring revenue for yourself.
That does sound like an extremely attractive offer, but I’d still argue that the hard part is finding people to take you up on it.
A couple of years into building The Church Co, Paul Cox stumbled upon a customer acquisition channel that led to 38 customers aka the “largest amount of growth we have seen in a single month”…
We found an instagram account with a 50k following of Church Creatives. Church Creatives are mostly responsible for their church’s website. The ad cost us $300 and we ran it in July and August…
This $300 ad seems to have hit our exact target audience and is proving to be our best investment.
