$2.6 Million Horror Movie YouTube Channel

James A. Janisse
  • James A. Janisse

  • YouTuber, podcaster
  • $2.6 million in revenue

It’s a channel called Dead Meat, started by James A. Janisse in 2017 and self-described as…

A horror movie channel celebrating everything great and awful about the genre.

Looks like it’s their “kill count” videos that have put them on the map. Those are videos where they tally up all the kills in popular horror movies 😱

For example…

  • Halloween (2018) – 27M views, 18 kills
  • It: Chapter Two (2019) – 24M views, 8 kills
  • The Belko Experiment (2016) – 22M views, 84 kills

I always find it interesting to go back and look at early videos from successful channels like this. Usually I find that their first videos are rough around the edges and have poor production quality.

Not the case with Dead Meat; the first video on their channel looks great: Friday the 13th (1980) KILL COUNT…

James has apparently been a life-long fan of horror movies, and has done some work in the movie industry over the years. But it’s the silly YouTube channel he started that has become his career 😎

The revenue breakdown of his business (source)…

Janisse, 33, shares that 60 percent of Dead Meat’s annual revenue comes from ads on YouTube; other sources of income include sponsorship deals (25 percent), donations from supporters on Patreon (8 percent) and ads and sponsorships for the Dead Meat podcast (5 percent).
