Sophia Lee started her blog in 2017 and spent the first 3 years building it up while still a full-time student.
According to a video posted in 2021, she was earning more than $75,000/month via blogging only a year after finishing college 🤑…
Her schedule for the first year…
Sophia doesn’t pretend it was easy…
I did that for months and months and months. Which, when you say a year, it seems like a short amount of time. But when you’re actually in it and you’re not making money from it and it seems like you’re doing all this for nothing it can be really really tough.
Her content seems largely aimed at female college students, as you can tell from her top 3 pages by organic traffic (source: Ahrefs)…
A good chunk of Sophia’s revenue comes via Mediavine display ads on her blog. Scroll through any of the articles above and you’ll see the ads appear.
Sophia says she makes “really good money off of Mediavine, like tens of thousands of dollars” 💰
In the same video, Sophia notes that she mainly got traffic to her site in the early days via Pinterest, and by year 4 of blogging she was getting ~600,000 pageviews from Pinterest each month.
Pinterest was the only social network she focused on initially, and that sounds like a good choice for her chosen niche: 78% of Pinterest users are female and 32% are aged 18-29 (source).
If you had to pick one social media channel to focus on for your niche, which would make the most sense? Which one does your target audience use the most? 🤔
