LaKenya Kopf is a virtual assistant and owner of Kopf Consulting, a VA company specializing in tech support.
According to a November 2021 interview, Kopf Consulting provides the following services:
Since LaKenya’s focus is on software support and not a particular niche or location, her company’s reach is international. Her clients list includes a beauty salon in California, an accounting firm in Canada, a real estate company in New York, a life coach in Australia, and others.
CRMs and email marketing systems allow us to provide clients with the care and support they need for nurturing leads, converting sales, and managing their customer journey, regardless of their location.
However, as the business grew, LaKenya discontinued her virtual assistance. Kopf Consulting now offers tech based services and hiring assistance. 1
I found over time I was doing more assisting in terms of admin work, social media, and customer service rather than working specifically on tech tasks. For this reason, VA services have been discontinued.
LaKenya’s VA business brings her $3,000 per month. 2
According to her website, LaKenya structures her VA services in packages. She offer four types of services:
As a service provider, LaKenya also offers clients payment agreements in the form of retainers.
I realized having two different tiers of business worked best. Retainer would provide a more steady income for me while ‘Pay As You Go’ created more affordable flexibility for those on a tight budget.
Prior to becoming a virtual assistant, LaKenya was a military spouse. She was trying to find work for months, but because of constantly moving from base to base, she would get rejected.
Then LaKenya’s friend mentioned that her workplace was looking for an independent consultant to help with an event. 3
I knew software and hardware on individual computers, but had no idea how I could translate that to virtual work. The solution: I would complete the vast majority of the work virtually and then travel for the event to play the role of on-site assistant.
Although her friend was in another state, LaKenya was able to support her virtually for her administrative tasks.
For the first two years, LaKenya’s virtual assistance was more of a side hustle, working primarily through word-of-mouth and picking up odd jobs here and there. Upon researching ways to make money online, she decided to start her own company.
Then I began volunteering and bartering for increased exposure and reviews. I took note of everything I needed to create for my business as I began to expand and added those items to my list of skills.
Through trial and error, LaKenya learned about online marketing and the digital ads space, social media marketing and management, CRMs, email marketing systems, and lead generation.
According to her website, LaKenya has been certified in a variety of administration and management softwares. She also has received accolades for her content and email marketing, community management, social media marketing skills, etc.
LaKenya used the skills she had learned over the years to build her first stand-alone website using WordPress. She created social media accounts on all the established platforms. Then she applied for her business credit card and changed her business checking account to her new business name, Kopf Consulting. 4

LaKenya had a modest marketing budget. She used Google Ads to promote her services and added her company to online business directories. She also regularly posted on social media, and continued to find work on online marketplaces for freelance services.
My goal was to keep overhead costs low, again—this is what I wanted to teach to other businesses as well—how to establish a business without breaking the bank.
These are some of LaKenya’s favorite tools for managing her virtual assistance business. 5
My business wouldn’t be able to run without Asana. It is my preferred task management system. I have used other similar apps, but this has been the only one that allows me to stay organized based on clients, tasks, recurring tasks. It also allows me to choose between creating a list and creating a board (and switching between the two).
