How does Clare Yeo make money online?
Clare Yeo is a travel blogger and virtual assistant.
According to the October 2019 interview below, she does social media work for her clients. That includes creating and repurposing content and sharing it on Instagram, Linkedin, and Facebook.
As she says in that video…
I started my career as a concert pianist but found my passion curating content on social media platforms. I am a trained virtual assistant that helps clients reach their business goals creatively and effectively.
Clare started her digital nomad lifestyle after completing her Master’s degree in 2019. She is currently working as a VA and content director for a lifestyle blogger.
How much money does Clare make?
During grad school Clare was working as a nanny for about 3 hours a day and earning around $3,000 a month.
She got paid for the holidays and summers off, which wasn’t enough to cover the cost of living in San Francisco. That’s why she hesitated about switching to a freelance career. 1
My goal was to get up to the point where I was making the same amount of money that I was as a nanny. I worked my butt off. I pitched to clients and spent countless hours hunting for job openings. After three weeks I was hitting that $3,000 mark.
As Clare explained in her October 2019 interview, she has been consistently earning $3,000/month since because all her clients are long-term clients. 2
What is Clare Yeo’s background?
Clare is a trained, Julliard-graduated concert pianist. She moved a lot while growing up and lived in five cities. That’s why traveling is an important part of her lifestyle.
When she graduated in May 2019 from her Master’s program, she was trying to figure out her next steps. Being a full-time pianist required sitting in a studio for eight hours a day rehearsing. She then realized that she would only get to travel for performances.
The whole reason why I decided to become a virtual assistant was so that I could have something to move around with.
Since June 2019, Clare has fully transitioned into working as a full-time VA while traveling. Although passionate about travel blogging, she paused her destination guides and travel tips due to the pandemic. 3
According to her LinkedIn profile, Clare is currently working as a content director.
How does Clare find clients?
As she stated in her October 2019 interview, Clare started applying to jobs before she even completed her virtual assistant course. She would wake up at six in the morning, sit in front of her laptop with a cup of coffee or tea, and work her way through until midnight. 4
After an intense period of pitching, there was first a little silence. Most of the people that I was pitching to were busy business owners and entrepreneurs. A week later I got so many emails back that I had more work than I could handle.
At first, Clare was working with dentists and dental speakers. Soon she switched to the travel industry because of her background in running a travel blog. Now she aims to niche down to supporting female-led brands and businesses. 5
I adore one of the clients that I’m working with right now. She was someone that I followed very closely because she’s a huge travel blogger. It’s been so much fun being her assistant.
