Does it matter what state you work in for a remote job?
That depends on the company that’s hiring.
Occasionally a company will only want to hire remote employees who live in a certain state or country, perhaps for tax or security reasons.
If the position does have this restriction, you should see it mentioned in the job description.
However, many companies that hire remotely don’t have any such restrictions. They’re usually happy to hire the best person for the job, regardless of their location.
How to get a remote job with no experience?
Don’t worry: there are plenty of remote jobs out there that don’t require experience.
FlexJobs has a handy filter that shows you only “entry-level” remote jobs.
I used that filter recently and found more than 500 full-time 100% remote job opportunities…
If you apply for a few remote jobs and don’t hear back, that may be a sign that you need to develop some new skills to give yourself a better chance.
Two ways you can do that:
- Sign up for some free Udemy courses
- Start taking on freelance gigs and learn as you earn
How do remote jobs pay you?
How you’ll get paid will depend on your employer.
Some employers will pay you by bank transfer, while others might prefer to pay you via PayPal or something similar.
Be sure to ask your employer how you will be paid – and how often! – before accepting a remote job.
What is the difference between a remote job and a virtual job?
Most people use these terms interchangeably, so you can consider them the same thing.
You might also hear a remote job referred to as a work-from-home job or a telecommute job.
What percentage of jobs are remote?
As of this writing, the job market is in flux so it’s hard to put an accurate number on this.
However, Gallup ran a poll in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and found that 62% of employed Americans reported working from home during the crisis…
Going forward, we’re likely to see that number increase further, with the pandemic having accelerated the transition to remote work for many industries.
